Late-Night and Sunday Pharmacies in Tunbridge Wells

Which Tunbridge Wells pharmacies open on Sundays or late?

The honest answer is: not many, and none that we could confirm open late in the evening. We checked the NHS profiles of six pharmacies in the town in September 2026 and only one lists Sunday opening. Boots at 7-11 Calverley Road (TN1 2TE, phone 01892 526486) is open Monday to Saturday from 8:30am to 6:30pm and on Sundays from 10:30am to 4:30pm according to its NHS page. That 6:30pm weekday close is also the latest closing time of any pharmacy we confirmed, so if you need medicine in the evening, the route is usually 111 rather than a late-night chemist.

The other pharmacies we could confirm were all closed on Sundays. Hollis Pharmacy, 285 Upper Grosvenor Road (TN4 9EX, 01892 520823), lists 9am to 1pm and 2:15pm to 6pm on weekdays and until 5pm on Saturdays after the lunch break, per its NHS page. Imperial Pharmacy, 4 The Pantiles (TN2 5TN, 01892 525630), is open 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5:30pm on Saturday (NHS page). A E Hobbs at 72 Mount Pleasant (TN1 1RJ, 01892 546565) lists 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday (NHS page). Carrs Pharmacy at 94 Calverley Road (TN1 2UN, 01892 542275) is open 9am to 6pm on weekdays and 9am to 1pm on Saturday (NHS page), and Greggswood Pharmacy, 106 Greggswood Road (TN2 3JG, 01892 540398), is open 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm on weekdays and Saturday mornings (NHS page).

There will be other pharmacies, including in supermarkets and in villages such as Southborough, Pembury and Rusthall, which we have not checked one by one. We have not confirmed Sunday or late hours for any supermarket pharmacy, so look them up rather than assuming. Opening times change, sometimes at short notice, so ring before you set off.

How do I find a pharmacy that is open right now?

Use the NHS find a pharmacy service, where you enter a town, city or postcode and get nearby pharmacies with their profile pages and opening times. On a Sunday or in the evening, open each profile's contact details and opening times tab to see whether it really is open, and phone if the page looks out of date.

What is Pharmacy First?

Pharmacy First is an NHS England service that lets a pharmacist assess and, where appropriate, supply treatment for seven common conditions without you seeing a GP. According to NHS England, the conditions, with the age ranges it gives, are earache (acute otitis media, ages 1 to 17), impetigo (age 1 and over), infected insect bites (age 1 and over), shingles (age 18 and over), sinusitis (age 12 and over), sore throat (age 5 and over) and uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women aged 16 to 64. For these, you can walk into a participating pharmacy or phone it without a referral. Your GP practice, urgent and emergency care settings and NHS 111 can also refer you. Not every pharmacy takes part, so ask when you phone. We could not confirm from official pages whether prescription charges apply, so ask the pharmacist before you agree to treatment.

For anything else minor, such as coughs, colds, tummy trouble or aches and pains, NHS England says pharmacists can give clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines without an appointment.

Do I need to worry about lunchtime closures?

Yes, in some cases. Two of the pharmacies above, Hollis and Greggswood, list a break in the middle of the day on their NHS profiles, roughly 1pm to 2pm or 2:15pm, so turning up at lunchtime can mean a locked door even though the pharmacy is open in the morning and afternoon. The others we checked list continuous opening. If you are collecting a prescription for someone unwell, a quick phone call before you travel saves a wasted trip, and it also lets you check the medicine is in stock.

What happens on bank holidays?

Bank holiday hours are much shorter. NHS England South East publishes a Kent pharmacy opening times list before each bank holiday, along with a map of the pharmacies that will be open and a link to the NHS finder. For the August bank holiday on 31 August 2026, the West Kent section of that list showed Rusthall Pharmacy at 2 High Street, Rusthall (TN4 8RN, 01892 521255) open from 2pm to 5pm, which gives a flavour of how limited cover can be. We could not see a list for the next bank holiday at the time of writing (September 2026), so check that page nearer the date, and remember that the listings are accurate only at the time they are published.

What if I need medicine and every pharmacy is shut?

Call NHS 111, or use 111 online if you are aged five or over. The NHS says 111 can direct you to an urgent treatment centre, an out-of-hours GP or another service, and it offers emergency medicine supplies through 111 online. Ring for a child under five.
